The American dream, or so I was raised to believe, is to get educated, and strike out to live your life as you choose to, by earning a living, raising a family, creating a legacy of some kind, etc, etc. One may spend his or her life chasing after the dream, with or without achieving it, but this is America and what we, as Americans, are all about.
